Ronald Gijsel

Partnerships Manager with the Domaison/Woo Division of Automattic, Inc.

I’m Ronald, though you can call me Ron. Twenty-five years ago, I boldly declined a spot at an art college in the Netherlands, opting instead for a business career, with the assured belief that art would always find a way back into my life. And it did, thanks to Automattic and some persuasive colleagues who encouraged me to start painting again. My artistic style has been deeply influenced by a family friend whose works have adorned every living room I’ve known.

Outside the canvas, I find inspiration in the improvisations of jazz, with a particular admiration for the genius of Charles Mingus, whose music never fails to evoke deep emotions and creative ideas. Just as Mingus explored the depths of each musical note, I strive to explore the simplicity of each stroke in my paintings. Sailing is another passion of mine, offering a sense of freedom and adventure that mirrors the spontaneity found in both sailing and jazz. Whether navigating the Med or exploring new creative landscapes, I’m on a continuous journey to find the perfect balance between life and art.
