During a memorable family vacation, we encountered a magnificent turtle gliding gracefully beneath our sailing yacht. As visitors in the turtle’s ancient realm, it was essential to me to immortalize this fleeting encounter. The artwork is a composite of scenes from both below and above the waterline, capturing the turtle’s world and our brief presence within it. Choosing to paint from this unique, slightly distorted angle was a daring decision, inspired by the way turtles often rest near the surface. The choppy waters introduced a dynamic interplay of reflections that dance across the canvas, creating a vivid tapestry of colors. This vibrant piece has found its perfect home in our living room, forever reminding us of the adventure and tranquility of that unforgettable day.
